Independence Ceremony 2017 (Salon at 56)
This year Sierra Leone 56 Independence celebration was held at the African Cultural Center located at 1425 Ferguson Avenue. Saint Louis, Missouri 63133. The event was a remarkable success in our community and everyone had an exciting time. Turnout was magnificent and everyone had the opportunity to network and connect with others. We had visitors from Chicago, Kansas City, and other nearby cities. The executive and board members of the Sierra Leone Community of Saint Louis had the pleasure to invite the native-born Artist, performer and musician Emmerson Bockarie to entertain the people of Saint Louis. During this event, members of the community were recognized and awarded for their unconditional support.
Leaders from various communities attended the celebration to connect with others to promote unity, love and to build a stronger community. The president of the Jefferson City Sierra Leone Association attended the event with twenty members. The president and members of the Iowa, Des Moines Sierra Leone Association also attended the event. The honorary speaker Mr. Michael Kojo Anani elaborated on the topic of unity, love, and networking in the various communities.
